On the outside, our artists carefully prep, mask and paint each PS5 Pro shell and matching DualSense controller by hand, layer by layer. Colours are sealed with a durable clear coat that’s designed to respect all vents, ports and status LEDs, so cooling and connectivity stay exactly as Sony engineered. The result is a fully functional PS5 Pro console with the same next-gen performance – 4K, ray tracing, PSSR and Tempest 3D AudioTech – now wrapped in a Craft by Merlin finish that looks more like a gallery piece than a standard black or white console.

Every unit in this collection starts as a brand-new, original PlayStation 5 Pro from Sony or authorised retailers. We customise the outer console shells and (in some editions) the DualSense controller, but the internal hardware – GPU, CPU, SSD, cooling system and all PS5 Pro features – stays exactly as Sony designed. You’re getting a real PS5 Pro, upgraded on the outside, not a replica.

No. Our paint process is built around protecting airflow and functionality. Vents, ports, buttons, the power/PS logos and any sensors are carefully masked so they are never clogged or coated. We don’t modify the internal cooling system, liquid metal, fan or heatsinks; you still benefit from Sony’s optimised PS5 Pro thermals and performance.

By design, PS5 Pro is an all-digital console – it does not include a built-in disc drive. You buy and download your games from PlayStation Store using the 2TB SSD for storage. If you want to use physical PS5/PS4 discs, Sony sells a separate external disc drive accessory that can be paired with PS5 consoles; our custom shells don’t remove this option or add a drive by themselves.

Yes. Because these are authentic PS5 Pro consoles, the internal hardware remains covered by Sony’s standard warranty for your region (subject to Sony’s terms). Since the exterior is artist-customised, Sony may not cover cosmetic issues like paintwork. For the artwork itself, Craft by Merlin offers a craftsmanship guarantee – if you experience a genuine issue with the paint or clear coat, you can contact us with your order details and photos and we’ll help with repair or resolution options under our policy.

How durable is the artwork on a custom PS5 Pro, and how should I clean it?
Each console goes through a multi-step prep, paint and sealing process: surface preparation, base coat, detailed hand-painting and a protective clear coat. This is designed to help the finish resist day-to-day handling, dusting and light contact when you move or cable-manage your setup. For care, avoid alcohol, strong solvents or abrasive sponges. Simply dust with a soft dry cloth, or use a slightly damp microfiber cloth and wipe gently. As with any console, make sure the PS5 Pro has open airflow around all vents and isn’t enclosed in a tight cabinet so both the hardware and the artwork stay in great condition over time.
