We design our process so your iPhone behaves like a stock 17 Pro / Pro Max in daily use:
- MagSafe and wireless charging: We never paint over the MagSafe ring or coil area in a way that would block alignment or charging.
- Cameras & sensors: All camera lenses, LiDAR, flash, Face ID sensors and the new Camera Control button are carefully masked to keep optics and detection crystal-clear.
- Apple Intelligence & performance: Features like image creation, Live Translation and on-device intelligence rely on the A19 Pro and iOS 26, which we do not modify.
As with any third-party cosmetic customisation, the original IP rating is not something we re-certify, so we recommend still treating the phone as water-resistant, not “water-proof” — avoid deliberate submersion where possible.

Combined with Apple’s Ceramic Shield 2 front glass, which is up to 3x more scratch-resistant than previous generations, you get a phone that’s built to be carried, not just displayed.
For best results:
- Use a case or sleeve if you’re rough on your phones (especially with keys or coins).
- Clean with a soft, slightly damp microfiber cloth only—no alcohol, acetone or abrasive cleaners on the painted areas.
- Avoid dropping the phone on sharp or rough surfaces; the paint is tough, but it’s still paint over metal and glass.

Because these are original Apple devices, hardware issues are generally handled under the standard Apple Limited Warranty and local consumer laws, subject to Apple’s terms and inspection. Custom paintwork is considered a cosmetic modification, which Apple may not cover directly.
On top of that, Craft by Merlin offers a craftsmanship support policy for the artwork itself: if you notice a genuine issue with the paint or clear coat (for example, unexpected peeling or defects on arrival), you or your customer can contact us with photos and the order ID. We’ll review and provide repair or resolution options depending on the case.
